Suffolk County Council, in its wisdom, has decided to cease funding the Seagull Theatre, Lowestoft and as no other source of funding has been found the building has closed its doors as from the end of July 2006.

The Seagull Theatre Club which regularly produced plays for the Seagull Theatre has decided to try and continue as a touring theatre company using any facilities that may be available in the area.

This web site is being revised as the official site of the Seagull Theatre Company and will be a point of contact for supporters.

We will also include some of the historical records of the original Seagull Theatre which ran for nearly forty years and was host to many famous national touring companies as well as a space for critically acclaimed local theatre performances.

An action group has been formed to try and save the building and reopen it again. To find out more about their campaign click here
